Now, before anyone gets too excited, that doesn't mean you can send me down the aisle dressed in an inflatable sumo suit.
Although, for the right couple… never say never.
But here's something you might not know about me.
When you book me as your celebrant, you actually get a say in what I wear on your wedding day.
Yep. Seriously.
And no, it's not because I need help getting dressed in the morning.
It's Your Day. I'll Dress Accordingly.
You've probably spent months planning the look and feel of your wedding.
The colour palette.
The flowers.
The styling.
What you're wearing.
What your wedding party is wearing.
Every little detail carefully considered to create a particular atmosphere.
And then there's your celebrant.
Standing right there beside you for one of the most important moments of your day.
So it makes sense to me that what I'm wearing should complement everything you've worked so hard to put together.
The last thing I want is to stick out like dog's balls in the middle of your beautiful ceremony photos.
Looking Sharp Without Stealing the Show
When we're chatting about your ceremony, I'll ask about your wedding colours, the dress code and the overall vibe you're going for.
Black tie?
Relaxed coastal?
Classic and elegant?
Something a little more colourful?
Whatever it is, we’ll work out an outfit from my wardrobe that suits the occasion.
And don't worry, I'm not about to turn up looking like a bum.
I still want to look sharp.
I just don't want to look like I'm trying to outdress the people actually getting married.
Because that would be a bit bloody awkward.
It's the Little Details
Something I find appreciate is how often other wedding vendors comment on what I'm wearing.
Sometimes it's the photographer.
Sometimes it's the venue coordinator.
Occasionally, someone will ask whether I've deliberately coordinated my outfit with the wedding colours.
To which my answer is usually…
“Yep. The couple picked it.”
And I love that.
Because while it might seem like a tiny detail, it's another way of making sure your ceremony feels cohesive, personal and completely yours.
It's also one less thing for you to wonder about in the lead-up.
Your Wedding. Your Way.
At the end of the day, I'm there to complement your wedding.
I want to look professional, feel comfortable and fit beautifully into the celebration you've created.
And if that means swapping my usual colours for something that better suits your vision, I'm all for it.
You choose the vibe. I'll bring the wardrobe.
Just maybe leave the inflatable sumo suit off the Pinterest board.
For now.
Happy planning.
Ryan.
